Fictional practice project. Use it to demonstrate your process, not to claim a client relationship, qualification, or measured business result.
The brief
Harbor Team is fictional. Its project lead needs a short internal update about an onboarding pilot. Make the evidence understandable and end with a decision. Design a document the audience can read without relying only on color.
Your source material
SYNTHETIC PILOT NOTES Previous process: 12 completed onboarding tasks in the observed week; median completion time 5 days. Pilot process: 10 completed tasks in a later observed week; median completion time 4 days. The weeks involved different tasks and people; no controlled experiment was run. Three pilot participants asked for a clearer handoff checklist. Two setup issues required manual support. Unknown: whether the pilot reduced cost, improved retention, or saved staff hours. Decision requested: approve a second small pilot using a clearer handoff checklist and a predefined evaluation plan. Constraint: do not portray the one-day difference as a proven causal improvement or invent a large revenue impact.
Work through the project
- Write the single decision the presentation should support.
- Outline context, method, observations, limitations, proposed next test, and decision.
- Choose a chart or comparison that preserves sample sizes and the non-comparable conditions.
- Add readable labels, consistent hierarchy, and an explanation of what the numbers do not establish.
- Review the deck as if you were a stakeholder deciding whether the next pilot is justified.
A judgment call worth noticing
Review your sample
Mark a check only after inspecting your output. Clicking saves these checklist ticks on this browser. Nothing is sent to an AI model. You can clear progress from My saved resourcesAI workflow planner.
Make the work portfolio-ready
Include the fictional brief, your artifact, two decisions you made, and the checks you performed. Explain where AI helped and what you changed. Separate self-review from feedback you actually obtained. Do not claim an outcome you did not measure.
